JESUS CHRIST – His Birth, Suffering, Glory, Reign / Hymn: "I Cannot Tell Why He, Whom Angels Worship"

JESUS CHRIST
His Birth, Suffering, Glory, Reign

Luke 2 New King James Version (NKJV)

Christ Born of Mary

2 And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. 2 This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria. 3 So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city.4 Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, 5 to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. 6 So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. 7 And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Luke 2 New King James Version (NKJV)

Glory in the Highest

8 Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:

14 “Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

15 So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.” 16 And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger.17 Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. 18 And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds. 19 But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.

Philippians 2 New King James Version (NKJV)

The Humbled and Exalted Christ

5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

I Cannot Tell
(I cannot tell why He, whom angels worship)

1. I cannot tell
why He, whom angels worship,
  Should set His love
upon the sons of men,
Or why, as Shepherd,

He should seek the wand’rers,
  To bring them back,

they know not how or when.
But this I know,
that He was born of Mary,
  When Bethl’hem’s manger

was His only home,
And that He lived

at Nazareth and labored,
  And so the Savior,

Savior of the world, is come.

2. I cannot tell
how silently He suffered,
  As with His peace

He graced this place of tears,
Or how His heart

upon the Cross was broken,
  The crown of pain

to three and thirty years.
But this I know,

He heals the broken-hearted,
  And stays our sin,

and calms our lurking fear,
And lifts the burden

from the heavy laden,
  For yet the Savior,

Savior of the world, is here.

3. I cannot tell
how He will win the nations,
  How He will claim
His earthly heritage,
How satisfy the needs

and aspirations
  Of east and west,

of sinner and of sage.
But this I know,

all flesh shall see His glory,
  And He shall reap

the harvest He has sown,
And some glad day

His sun shall shine in splendor
  When He the Savior,

Savior of the world, is known.

4. I cannot tell
how all the lands shall worship,
  When, at His bidding,

every storm is stilled,
Or who can say

how great the jubilation
When all the hearts of men

with love are filled.
But this I know,

the skies will thrill with rapture,
And myriad, myriad human voices sing,
And earth to heaven,

and heaven to earth, will answer:
  At last the Savior,

Savior of the world, is King.

1. Não sei porque
o amor foi revelado
De um Ser a Quem os anjos culto dão,
Porque qual bom
Pastor quis procurar-nos
A fim de nos livrar da perdição;
Mas isto eu sei:
nasceu qual criancinha,
Na pobre manjedoura de Belém;
Como homem puro
e nobre andou na Terra,
O Salvador que rejeitaram
com desdém.

2. Não sei avaliar
o preço amargo
Da paz perene
que Ele nos deixou.
Nem compreendo
como quebrantado
Na rude cruz Seu coração ficou.
Mas isto eu sei:
nasceu qual criancinha,
E purifica o mais vil pecador;
Ao sobrecarregado
traz alívio,
Pois sempre permanece
o mesmo Salvador.

3. Não sei se os povos
hão de recebê-Lo
Ou quando regerá seu corações,
Como há de preencher perfeitamente
De sábio e simples as aspirações.
Mas isto eu sei:
que alenta as almas tristes,
Do sofrimento o fruto há de brotar,
E em dia alegre
a luz do céu radiante,
O Salvador trará
quando aqui voltar.

4. Não sei prever
o que nós sentiremos
Maravilhados ante o resplendor
Daquele cujo mando traz bonança,
E cuja voz inspira tanto amor.
Mas isto eu sei:
que em jubiloso canto,
Os céus e a terra
juntos louvarão;
Ao contemplar
em majestade e glória.
O Salvador Real
a Quem adorarão.
